Sattam Oru Iruttarai Movie Reviews:

Sneha Britto’s debut film Sattam Oru Iruttarai has borrowed the storyline and title of 1981 super hit made by her grand uncle SA Chandrasekhar. So, is the new version as good as the original action entertainer?

The answer is that the all new Sattam Oru Iruttarai with a tag line -A War For Love is nowhere near the original made 31 years back and gives you a feeling that -You have seen it all before! This one lacks the tempo and seriousness of the original and is packaged more like a song ‘n’ dance, fun entertainer.

The story is about a college student Vijay (Thaman Kumar) whose sister Kausalya (Reema Sen) is the city police commissioner. Vijay is on a revenge spree against three bad guys (Suresh, Radha Ravi, and Ram) who killed his lady love Jasmine (Pia Bajpai). Due to lack of evidence, the court releases them.

Meanwhile Vijay and his college friends including his current flame, Diya (Bindu Madhavi) plan meticulously the murder of two and is on the hunt for the third. At the same time Kausalya tries to bring Vijay to justice.

The plot looks unbelievable in modern times. If the highlight in the original is the conflict between siblings and the undercurrent of tension, here the focus is more on making the film glossy with gimmicks, songs at regular intervals and pedestrian comedy. The climax looks contrived and is meant to glorify SA Chandrasekhar. Music is by Vijay Antony and he isn’t quite in his elements here.

Thaman the new find, has screen presence and has done his best but could not make his role as an avenging hero convincing. Among the three leading ladies, it is Pia who impresses with her charm and spontaneity. Reema Sen as the cop looks stiff while Bindu Madhavi has nothing much to do.
